Minimum System Requirements
- 400 Mhz processor
- 64 MB of RAM
- 100 MB of available hard drive space
- DirectX 8.1 compatible video card with 3D hardware acceleration and at
least 16 MB of video memory
- Sound card with MIDI capabilities
- 56K dial-up internet connection or faster
- Microsoft Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP
- Visual Basic run-time software
- DirectX 8.1 or higher run-time software

If Voidshard reports missing OCX or DLL files, you need to download and install this.

Download Voidshard Utilities (219 KB)
These utility programs provide easy to use graphics and sound compression. After installing this package,
you will be able to right click on BMP files and choose "Convert to PNG" or right click on a WAV files and
choose "Convert to OGG". A compressed file with the same file name but different file type will be created
within the same folder. We request that you first convert graphics files to PNG format and sound files to
OGG format before submitting them to Voidshard. These utilities use
BMP2PNG and
Ogg Vorbis compression.
Installing the Voidshard Client
- Download and run the Voidshard installation program
- If you wish, you can choose to install Voidshard to a different destination folder
than the default provided by clicking Browse
- Press the Install button
A shortcut to Voidshard will be placed on your Desktop and in your Programs
listing. Voidshard will also be started automatically.
Does my computer meet the minimum system requirements?
- Click the Start button in the lower left corner of
your screen
- Choose Run...
- Type dxdiag and press OK
- If you are asked whether you would like to check for WHQL digital signatures, say No
- On the System tab, take note of your Operating System, Processor, Memory, and DirectX Version
- Select the Display tab
- Take note of your Display Device's Name, Manufacturer, Chip Type, Approx. Total Memory, Current Display Mode, and Direct3D Acceleration
Installing the Visual Basic run-time
- Close any non-essential programs that are
running on your computer
- Download and run theVisual Basic run-time installation program (3.10 MB)
- Press OK
- Press the large button with a picture of
a computer to begin installation
- If you are given a warning that a destination file is in use, choose Ignore, then Yes to confirm
- If you are given a warning that a file being copied is older than one already on your computer, choose to Keep the file already on your computer
Installing the DirectX run-time
The latest version of the DirectX run-time can be found at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/

Creating a Shortcut to the Map Editor
In case you want to make a shortcut to the Map Editor on your Desktop, or somewhere else, you can make a Shortcut
to the Map Editor Manually by doing the following:
- Go to Start --> Programs
- Right-click on the "Voidshard" folder group and Click Open
- Copy and Paste the "Voidshard" shortcut
- Rename the copy to "Voidshard Map Editor"
- Right-click on this shortcut and choose Properties
- Add /map to the end of the shortcut's Target field
- When you're done it should look something like: "C:\Program Files\Voidshard\Voidshard.exe" /map
- Press OK and then try the shortcut
